IKANI SAMANI

I architect SaaS platforms and the infrastructure fast-growing startups run on β€” then help them ship faster without breaking the budget. A decade-plus across engineering and leadership; these days, part builder, part strategic advisor.

Me: Ikani

(ee β€” kah β€” nee)

Born in Tonga, I came up loving family, BYU football and rugby, and the endless pull of learning something new. That curiosity turned into a career: I enjoy understanding a business deeply and then developing software that actually moves it.

Over a decade I've worked across mobile, backend, and frontend β€” as an individual contributor, a senior engineer, and an engineering manager. I care about psychological ownership, momentum, and helping the next generation of engineers β€” especially minorities, women, and young people β€” find their way into STEM.

Service above self. Keep moving forward.

[ 02 / NOW ]

What I do now.

These days I work with fast-growing startups β€” architecting the platform, keeping the pace honest, and growing the people who build it.

01

Architect SaaS platforms

Resilient SaaS products and the infrastructure beneath them β€” a foundation a startup can keep building on as it scales.

02

Keep velocity honest

Push development speed up while holding budgets and timelines to reality. Growth that lasts, not a sprint that burns out.

03

Advise & mentor

A strategic partner to founders and a mentor to engineers β€” investing in the team as much as the codebase.

[ 03 / EXPERIENCE ]

The long game.

A decade-plus of building, from first repair bench to head of engineering. Roles in reverse β€” newest first.

[ 04 / STRENGTHS ]

Play to your strengths.

Being your best self means playing to your strengths β€” at work and everywhere else.

01

Responsibility

I take psychological ownership of anything I commit to. Large or small, I'm bound to follow it through β€” my name depends on it.

02

Command

I take control of a situation and make the call. Once a goal is set, I'm restless until I've aligned others around it.

03

Activator

I make things happen β€” turning thought into action. I'd rather do it now than only talk about it.

04

Learner

A great desire to improve continuously. The process of learning, more than the outcome, is what excites me.

05

Maximizer

I focus on strengths to stimulate personal and group excellence. I like turning something good into something great.

06

Self-Assurance

I know I'm able β€” to take risks, meet challenges, stake claims, and, most important, deliver.

[ 05 / SELECTED WORK ]

Things I've shipped.
